August always tricks me. The light is still summer, the water is still warm, and then one morning you realize the beach bag has been sitting by the door for a week.
This little sea turtle is my way of holding onto that feeling. I painted him years ago - greens, a wash of ocean blue, that calm turtle face - and he has already found his way onto pillows, a hat, a tee. This week he got two new homes: a roomy organic cotton tote, and a tiny vinyl sticker for $6.

The tote: beach, market, everyday
I wanted a bag that actually gets used. This one is organic cotton, oyster-colored, with the turtle printed on the front. It is sturdy enough for the last farmers-market run of the season, a towel and a book, or the ordinary Tuesday pile of whatever needs carrying.

The $6 sticker: an easy first find
If you are new here, start tiny. The sea turtle sticker is a 3-inch kiss-cut vinyl of the same painting — water bottle, laptop, journal, a little piece of the coast that does not ask much of you.
