Welcome to the home of Cameron and Ward Hackett {and 2 year old Frances who is cute as a button}! No matter what decorating style you admire, you will absolutely be inspired by their stylish yet livable home. Each and every room is a happy breath of fresh air. Cameron is the master at giving older furniture new life. See how she updates family treasured pieces to blend better with her modern chic style. As you are reading through this home tour, I bet your mind will be quickly making a checklist of things you want to update in your own home.
Home Tour – Living Room
As I entered Cameron’s home, I couldn’t stop my eyes from dancing around this heavenly living room in the front. If you will notice, the soothing neutral paint color {Violet Dusk, Benjamin Moore} has the slightest purple hue which is the perfect backdrop for her knock-out deep purple club chair and coordinating orange accents. I fell in love with her glass waterfall coffee table with her perfectly styled decor on top. You know that feeling you get when you watch a Nancy Meyers film? How many times have you dreamed of having any of the homes in her films? Well, I have that feeling here.
Tip #1 Update your Dark Wood Furniture
Cameron wanted to keep her grandmother’s piano but she needed to give it a refresh in order to blend better with the living room’s color palette. Ann Cooper, a local faux painter brilliantly transformed this piano with a light gray chalky finish. The piano seat orange fabric pops and makes this corner another focal point of the room.

The Front Entrance – Home Tour
As you can see here, the secretary in the front entrance has the same update with the gray chalk paint. The silver trophy cups, from Ward’s sailing competitions are proudly displayed along with a silver spoon dating back to the Civil War. The wall paint color is Benjamin Moore Calm, with a faux finish in gold on the ceiling – also by Ann Cooper.

Tip #2 Bleach Your Dining Room Table a Lighter Shade
Their stunning dining room is just another example of Cameron’s amazing way she transforms the furniture she has to fit her modern taste. Take the dining room table for instance. Notice the lighter shade? She bleached the wood to lighten the dark wood stain. Wow, that’s cool. She also had the chairs painted in a darker gray which really pulls the room together. I told you the ideas would be swirling in your head.

The Man Cave – Home Tour
As Cameron truly loves to use their living room space, Ward has carved out a nice man cave space for himself. Complete with all the essentials: comfortable seating for TV viewing and full bar set up. However, alert alert! There is no rule that “Man Caves” have to have dark leather and musky colors with barely any light peeking through. This space reflects their love for the sea with it’s light and bright coastal living vibe. It’s refreshing.
The Master Bedroom – Home Tour
As seen in the home tour sneak peek, this master bedroom is decorated with coastal living colors as well.
Tip #3 Solve an Odd Shaped Window Issue with Shades
You would never know it, but behind the bed are two odd shaped windows. They are different sizes from each other, and they are not centered with the room. In order to provide more unity to the room, she hung these neutral shades across the entire wall, giving the illusion that there is a window behind each one – which there is not. The material is sheer enough to allow the light to come into this dreamy bedroom with sea-inspired colors.
Tip #4 Update a Plain Old Dresser with O’verlays
I was so excited to see that Cameron has used O’verlays on her bedroom side tables. I met Cheryle and Danika, the talented women behind O’verlays a while ago, and I’m super excited to show off their product in one of my home tours. O’verlays are lightweight, decorative fretwork panels that come in several patterns and sizes. They are paintable and easily attach to furniture, mirrors, walls and glass. Learn more about them here.
Well, there you have it. How full is your list of things to do? I’m so inspired by Cameron’s creative touch, and I know you are too. Thanks so much Cameron for inviting us into your lovely home!

This is really beautiful! I love how light and bright it is.
It’s a real treat for the eyes 🙂
What gorgeous interiors to reflect two gorgeous ladies. I’d love to know how Cameron bleached her dining room table.
Hey Alison. I got it done by a fabulous work working guy. He said it took layers and layers of bleach and sunlight.
