Peppermint Bark | Homemade Gifts

I love giving homemade gifts and peppermint bark is always a favorite! With only three ingredients, it’s hard to go wrong. It’s easy to make and delicious to eat. {Get the recipe below.} Be sure to make several batches though. Some for friends and neighbors, and some for your own family.

Here’s the recipe: Peppermint Bark

  • 12 ounces white chocolate
  • 12 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy

  • Line a 9×12 pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt the dark chocolate microwave 20 seconds stir and repeat until you have a smooth consistency.
  • Pour the melted dark chocolate on the parchment paper, spread the chocolate out until it is about 1/3″ thick.
  • Melt the white chocolate, using the steps above.
  • After the chocolate is smooth, pour it on top of the dark chocolate – trying to make the layers the same thickness. (it’s best to do this step while the white chocolate is still very soft — I’ve had them separate when I broke them into pieces, I think the layers “stick” together better if the white chocolate has not hardened).
  • Place the pepermints into a ziplock bag and crush the mints. While the white chocolate is still melted sprinkle on top.
  • Let the chocolates harden in the refrigerator for 2 hours, then break the candy into pieces. This needs to be stored in the refrgerator if you live in a warm/humid climate.

Peppermint Bark – For Gift Giving

I found these clear boxes which are perfect for homemade gifts. Fill the box with your bark, and tie it up with some festive red and white barker’s twine and a gift tag. That’s it.
