Today I am sharing an eclectic and stylish yet comfortable family room makeover designed by Interior Designer, Kirsten Nease. Her clients, a busy family of five, wanted a music room full of creativity. The Mother and Son like to play guitar and Dad plays the keyboard. How fun is that? I want to be a fly on the wall during family jam sessions! Kirsten really pulled this room together using fabrics in bright colors and bold patterns that give the room energy and a vivacious personality, which is the mood they were going for.
Family Room Makeover
Sources and Details:
Sconces flanking bookcases are from Ballard Designs and give ambient light.
Hassock stools in orange were specifically placed to allow for easy guitar playing. The stools no arms provide functionality for everyone to sit in any direction.
Kirsten’s client had the leather chairs and she placed a new sofa in blue/gray/brown with custom pillows in floral. The geometric pillows on the leather chairs bring the color scheme together.
Drapes are custom made with Duralee fabric.
Coffee table – Sherrill Furniture.
Side tables and lamp – Uttermost.
The small drum table provides storage for music books and taller lamp table provides balance to an asymmetrical room.
I wish I could sing or play an instrument. I used to play the piano way back when, and we even have a piano in our living room. The only time the piano bench gets warm is during the holidays when my daughters play the one Christmas carol they remember from their beginner books! Do you play an instrument?
